Marie Papalia

My goal as a therapist is to help you understand yourself better, enabling you to make healthy choices that will enhance your overall sense of well-being.  I will partner with you to develop an individualized plan that will lead you to feel empowered, whether you are coping with chronic mental health issues or a particularly challenging time in your life.  I utilize an integrative approach, drawing on elements of Mindfulness Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, but more than anything, I pride myself on creating a therapeutic environment that is calm, safe, and free from judgment. Additionally, I’ve had training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to treat obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive behaviors.

I completed my graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania.  I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on an individual, couples, or family basis.  My particular areas of training and expertise include, but are not limited to, depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, obsessive-compulsive disorder and eating disorders.
