My focus as a therapist is to help you tackle the problems you are facing so that you feel more effective and satisfied in your every day life. I will invite you to help me fully understand your concerns and together we will decide how to best approach your unique situation and needs. I facilitate this work by creating a safe, comfortable environment where you will feel respected, valued and supported.
I use an integrative approach that includes threads of cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, gestalt therapy, psychodynamic theory and behavior therapy. Using these methods, I treat adults and/or teenagers with depression or mood problems, anxiety, relationship or family issues, infertility issues, and difficulty with grieving significant losses. In your work with me, I hope you will feel accepted and understood, and experience our work as an ongoing process that we co-create.
I received my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Maryland and have certificates in behavior therapy and family therapy, and completed a Gestalt training program. Gestalt work offers new an innovative ways to help families and couples move out of stuck or dysfunctional patterns of relating into healthy, more satisfying ways of connecting, and so it is a particularly useful approach for resolving conflict and improving communication in all kinds of relationships.
