About us
Our Team
Maddy Buchman

I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns that both obstruct and uplift wellbeing, mutually engaging in the healing process. I aim to support insight into how the past impacts the present and to facilitate the development of coping strategies and an increased sense of aliveness. I love the spaciousness and sense of possibility that therapy can create but know that this work can be terrifying. I have a deep belief in the human capacity to heal and in the power of therapy to assist in this healing.

My work with clients includes supporting those experiencing life transitions, depression, anxiety, addiction recovery, and relational challenges. I am particularly interested in providing care for clients managing trauma, living with grief, and working through traumatic loss.

I have my MSW from Rutgers University and operate from social justice and psychodynamic theoretical orientations. Some treatment modalities I tend to draw from within this framework include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, the Gottman Method (for couples), Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in gender based violence prevention and intervention and as a case manager for unhoused adults. I am a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania, and am currently pursuing full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

I look forward to working with you!
